Five Years of Showers, Compassion, and Radical Hospitality®

A Humble Beginning
When SHARE Community first started, the idea of offering mobile showers to our unhoused neighbors was both simple and daunting. Showers are a basic need, but creating a program to provide them consistently meant facing a mountain of challenges. We had to find and maintain a shower trailer, raise money, recruit volunteers, and build trust with people who had been overlooked and let down far too often.
There were long days when equipment failed, rainy days when the line stretched down the block, and quiet moments when someone admitted they had not showered in weeks. Those were hard times. But every challenge became worth it the first time we saw someone’s shoulders relax under clean water, or the first time a guest walked away in fresh clothes with a smile that said, “I feel human again.”
What We Have Built in Five Years
Looking back now, the growth is nothing short of inspiring.
8,300+ showers provided
550+ people served
Hundreds of thousands of hygiene products distributed
Countless outfits given out
Hundreds of volunteers engaged

“The true story is not in the numbers, but in the hugs, smiles, and laughter shared. These are the things that make a community.”
The real heartbeat of SHARE Community is in those countless hugs, the smiles that come after hard days, the laughter that breaks through the heaviness, and the tears we have shared in moments of grief. This is more than a program. This is community.
Why Radical Hospitality® Matters
At the heart of SHARE Community is something we call Radical Hospitality®.
It is not just about offering a service, but about the way we serve. It means showing extraordinary care in places where people least expect it. It means offering the rekindling of dignity without conditions.
“Radical Hospitality® works because it reminds people that they are worthy of love and respect right now, as they are.”
A shower becomes more than water and soap. It becomes an experience of being seen. A clean shirt becomes more than fabric. It becomes a reminder that someone cares. This practice builds trust and nurtures real relationships, which is why it works.
Five Years Later: What We Celebrate
Resilience, the determination of our guests and the commitment of our volunteers.
Community, the way strangers become family through shared laughter, hugs, and even grief.
Hope, the way something as small as a clean towel or a kind word can change the course of a day.
Radical Hospitality®, the practice that turns ordinary service into extraordinary connection.
Looking Ahead
The need is still great, but we know the work is worth it. Together we will continue to provide showers, clean clothing, hygiene products, and referrals to other resources. More than that, we will keep offering compassion, tenderness, and a place where people belong.
Thank you to everyone who has made these five years possible: our volunteers, our supporters, and most of all, our guests. You are the reason we do this. You are the reason SHARE Community exists.
Here is to the next five years of love in action.
